Getting Started
Simple To Do List keeps your tasks in one place: add them, tick them off, and see what is left.
The first time the app opens it shows a short example list. Edit the examples, or tap Clear on the banner to start empty.
Adding tasks
Type a task in the Add task field at the bottom and tap + or Return.
Adding several at once
Tap the ⌃ (chevron) beside the add field to open Add tasks. Type one per line, or paste a whole list from Notes or a message: every line becomes a task. With categories on, chips at the top choose which category they go into.
Pictures
Each task gets a picture guessed from its name as you type. Tap the picture on any task to change it, or turn pictures off under Settings › Behaviour › Task Pictures.

The two chips under the title switch the list between its two jobs. Which one opens first is yours to choose under Settings › Behaviour › To Do mode first.
To Do
Tick a task and it disappears, so what is left is what is left to do
An Undo bar appears for a few seconds after each tick
Tick the last one and you get confetti
All
Everything, finished or not — for when you are organising rather than working
The add field and search are here
Drag the handle (☰) to reorder by priority
Sort A–Z, Sort Z–A and Delete checked live in the ⋯ menu in the top bar

With projects on, each project has its own list. Turn them on under Settings › Projects › Enable projects; your current list becomes the first project.
The Projects home
Tap + in the top bar for a new project: a name, a picture, and optionally a due date
Each card shows its date, a countdown in the last week, and how much is done
Swipe a card for Edit, Duplicate or Delete; press and hold to drag it into order
Edit in the top bar lets you drag projects into order and hide ones you are not using. Tap Done to save. The default project cannot be hidden
Switching projects
On any list, tap the project's name in the title to open the switcher: Projects home first, then your other projects with their counts.
Which list opens first
Settings › Projects › Opening screen chooses between the Projects home and a particular project.

Categories group your tasks under headings such as Work, Home and Errands. Subcategories group them again inside a category — Work might have Emails and Meetings. Turn them on under Settings › Categories.
Manage Categories adds, renames, repictures and reorders them
Each category has its own subcategories switch, so you can use two levels where they help and one where they do not
A category with tasks in it cannot be deleted — move or remove those tasks first, so nothing is quietly reassigned
Tasks with no category sit under General
Tap a heading to fold a whole group away

A template is a ready-made list you add to a project in a tap. Turn them on under Settings › Templates, and open them from Add tasks › From a template…
Built in
Twenty-one lists for the big jobs, grouped as Home, Life Admin, Life Events and Occasions — Moving House, Buying a Home, Tax Time, New Baby, Wedding Planning, New Job, Back to School, Christmas and more. Tap one to choose which of its tasks to add; anything already on your list is skipped — matched on the name, so tasks you typed yourself count too — and applying a template twice never doubles up. Any category a template needs is created if you do not already have one by that name.
Your own
Save a project as a template from the list's ⋯ menu. Ticked tasks are saved unticked
Tap + on the Templates screen to start one from scratch
Press and hold a template for Edit, Rename, Duplicate or Delete. A built-in one can be copied and edited (Edit a copy); the original stays
Edit in the top bar drags templates into order and hides ones you never use — the built-in ones reorder too. Tap Done to save
Templates are shared by all your projects.

Some tasks are neither done nor untouched. Mark one In Progress from its ⋯ menu and it stays in the list with its row tinted, so started work is visible at a glance instead of looking the same as everything you have not begun.
It is a marker, not a third tick: the task is still outstanding, still counts as remaining, and ticking it off finishes it as usual.

Open a task's ⋯ menu and choose Add reminder, then pick a date and time. The same menu edits or cancels it later.
On a project
Give a project a due date and switch on Remind me in its sheet. You get a notification on the days before it is due — three days before, the day before, and the day it is due, by default — saying how many tasks are still to do. Change the days and the time under Settings › Projects.
Reminders are scheduled on your device. iOS asks permission the first time you set one.

Settings › Sync › Sync with iCloud keeps your projects, tasks, categories and templates the same on every device signed in to your iCloud account. The Status row says whether it is working.
It needs an iCloud account on the device itself — there is no sign-in inside the app, because iOS does not allow one. If Status says you are not signed in, sign in under the iPhone's own Settings app at the top of the list.
Sync is not a backup: deleting something on one device deletes it everywhere. For a copy you keep, see Import & Export below. Changes to the switch take effect the next time the app opens.

Settings › Your data › Export a copy… writes everything — projects, categories, tasks and templates — to one file and hands it to the share sheet: save it to Files, AirDrop it, or send it to yourself.
Import from a file… reads such a file and replaces everything currently in the app, after showing you what is in it.
The same file works with the Android version, so you can move between the two.

Q: Why can't I delete a category?
A category that still has tasks in it cannot be deleted, and the app says how many. Move those tasks first. This is deliberate: deleting it for you would silently change where your tasks live.

Q: I bought Premium on Android. Does it carry over?
No. Apple and Google purchases are separate, so the iPhone unlock is a separate purchase. Your lists can move across with Import and Export.
