Simple Travel Checklist — Help Guide


Getting Started

Travel Checklist helps you pack for any trip without forgetting a thing. Add everything you need to take, check items off as you pack, and reuse your list for future trips.

Adding items

Switch to Edit mode. Type an item name in the Add item field at the bottom of the screen and tap the + button (or press Enter).

Voice input

Tap the Add item field, then tap the microphone icon on your keyboard to add items by voice.

Tip: Use emojis!

Add emojis to your item names to make your list more visual and fun. For example: 👕 T-Shirts, 🧴 Sunscreen, 🔌 Phone Charger. You can also add emojis to category names in the category manager.

Edit & Pack Modes

The app has two clear modes, shown as chip toggles on the action bar just below the top bar. Switch between them at any time.

Edit Mode

Use this mode to set up your packing checklist:

  • Quick Add — the add-item bar appears at the bottom of the screen
  • Select All / Deselect All — the ALL checkbox lets you check or uncheck every item at once
  • Sort A-Z / Sort Z-A — sort your list alphabetically from the action bar menu
  • Drag & Drop — drag handles appear on each item so you can reorder your list
  • Delete Checked Items — available in the action bar menu to remove checked items
  • Categories — items are grouped under category headers with a checkbox to tick/untick all items in that category (Premium)

Pack Mode

Switch to Pack mode when you are ready to pack:

  • Check off items as you pack them — checked items automatically hide
  • Categories — fully packed categories are hidden automatically (Premium)
  • Undo — a snackbar appears after each check with an Undo button
  • Confetti celebration — when every item is packed, you will see a confetti animation!

Both Modes

These features work in both Edit and Pack mode:

  • Search — tap the magnifying glass to filter your list
  • Edit — long-press an item to edit its name and category
  • Delete — long-press an item to delete it (with undo)
  • Reminders — long-press an item to add, edit, or cancel a reminder

Packing for Your Trip

Here is the recommended packing workflow:

Before your trip (Edit mode)

  1. Switch to Edit mode
  2. Add everything you might need to your list
  3. Drag items into a logical order (e.g. group by category: clothes, toiletries, electronics, documents)

Packing day (Pack mode)

  1. Switch to Pack mode
  2. As you pack each item, tap to check it off — it hides automatically
  3. If you tap the wrong item, hit Undo on the snackbar
  4. When everything is packed, you will see a confetti celebration!

Reusing your list

After your trip, switch back to Edit mode and use Deselect All (the ALL checkbox) to uncheck everything. Your list is ready for next time. Add or remove items as needed.

Managing Items

Editing an item

Long-press on an item to open the context menu, then choose Edit.

Deleting an item

Long-press and choose Delete. An undo bar appears at the bottom of the screen.

Reordering items

Drag the handle () on the right side of each item to move it up or down. Drag handles are only visible in Edit mode.

Categories (Premium)

Categories let you organise your packing list into groups like Clothes, Toiletries, Tech, and more. This is a Premium feature.

Enabling categories

Go to Settings → Categories and toggle Enable Categories on.

How categories work

  • In Edit mode, items are grouped under category headers
  • Each category header has a checkbox to tick/untick all items in that category at once (Edit mode)
  • In Pack mode, categories where all items are packed are automatically hidden
  • The item count is shown next to each category name

Managing categories

Go to Settings → Categories → Manage Categories:

  • Add — tap the + button to create a new category
  • Rename — tap a category to edit its name
  • Delete — tap a category, then Delete (only if the category has no items)
  • Reorder — drag categories to change their display order
  • Sort A-Z / Z-A — use the sort button in the top bar

Default category

New items are automatically added to the default category (marked as "Default" in the category manager). You can rename the default category but it cannot be deleted.

Assigning categories

When categories are enabled, tapping the + button opens the Add Item dialog where you can choose which category the item belongs to. You can also change an item's category by long-pressing it and choosing Edit.

Turning categories off

If you prefer a simple flat list, you can turn categories off at any time in Settings → Categories. Your items and category assignments are preserved — just toggle it back on whenever you want them.

Emojis in categories

The default categories come with emojis (e.g. 🧳 General, 👕 Clothes, 📱 Tech). You can add your own emojis when renaming or creating categories.

Reminders

Set a reminder on any item to get a notification at a specific time — useful for packing deadlines or last-minute items.

Setting a reminder

Long-press on an item and choose Add Reminder. Pick a date and time.

Editing or cancelling

Long-press the item again to Edit Reminder or Cancel Reminder.

Permissions

On Android 13+, the app will ask for notification permission. Some devices may also require you to allow exact alarms.

Google Drive Backup & Restore

Backup & Restore is a premium feature.

Backing up

Main menu → Backup & Restore → sign in → Backup.

Restoring

Tap Restore. A confirmation dialog will appear — restoring replaces all current items.

New phone

  1. Back up on your old phone
  2. Install on your new phone
  3. Sign in to the same Google account and restore

Go to Settings → Appearance and choose:

  • Light — always light
  • Dark — always dark
  • System — follows your device theme

  • No Ads — enjoy an ad-free experience
  • Cloud Backup — back up and restore your lists to Google Drive

Q: How do I reorder items?
